Noise complaints lead to more Foggy Bottom police patrols
A spike of complaints about excessive noise near the George Washington University campus has led to an increase in foot and bike patrols by MPD officers, the GW Hatchet reports.
The Hatchet says that increased patrols will come to 16th, 24th, 25th H, I and K streets between midnight and 3 a.m. on weekend nights.
Violations of the District's noise regulations, which prohibit excessive noise between 10 p.m. and 7 a.m., carries penalties as strong as 10 days in jail or a $1,000 fine.
Despite the increased patrols, the Hatchet says that off-campus noise complaints dropped significantly between the 2010-11 and 2011-12 school years.
