One-fifth of female military members have reported sexual assault, report says
About one-fifth of female members of the United States military have reported unwanted sexual contact according to a new Pentagon survey, Military Times reports.
The results indicate that sexual assault continues to be a "persistent problem" for all branches of the military, Army Maj. Gen. Gary Patton told USA Today and Military Times.
The United States Marine Corps reported the highest incidences of sexual assault, with about 30 percent of female members reporting an assault. The Army and Navy both reported about 24 percent each.
