Charles County home invasion suspects get away after chase
Three suspects in a home invasion that took place in Charles County early Wednesday morning remain on the run after getting away from a police chase, officials say.
The home invasion happened in the 7400 block of Leonardtown Road in Hughesville, a town about 12 miles southeast of Waldorf. Charles County Sheriff's Office authorities say that at about 4:45 a.m., three armed suspects burst into a home and demanded money. They then fled in a white SUV.
None of the occupants of the house - a man, his girlfriend and their 5-year-old child - were injured.
Shortly thereafter, the suspects and their SUV were tracked down and pulled over, but they quickly fled once again. Officers then chased the suspect all the way to Mount Rainier in Prince George's County, where authorities say they lost sight of the SVU.
A search for the suspects is ongoing.
