Tim Tebow released by New York Jets
The New York Jets have cut quarterback Tim Tebow.
Tebow spend just one season with the Jets and appeared in 12 games, completing six of eight passing attempts for 39 yards.
“Unfortunately, things did not work out the way we all had hoped," Jets head coach Rex Ryan said in a statement.
The former Heisman Trophy winner joined the Jets in a trade with the Denver Broncos last March 26.
Tebow became expendable after the Jets selected West Virginia quarterback Geno Smith in last week's NFL Draft. It left the team with six quarterbacks on its depth chart.
Those quarterbacks include the two who started in front of him during the 2012 season, Mark Sanchez and Greg McElroy.
