KETTERING, Md. (AP) - Lt. Gov. Anthony Brown is seeking to become Maryland's next governor.

Hundreds gathered on Friday at Prince George's County Community College to hear Brown make the official announcement for his gubernatorial bid.

Brown, who has served with two-term Democratic Gov. Martin O'Malley since 2007, says that he is running to make Maryland better for more Marylanders.

Several elected officials, including Prince George's County Democrat and Senate President Thomas V. Mike Miller, Prince George's County State's Attorney Angela Alsobrooks and Rep. Donna Edwards, D-Md., were in attendance.

Miller, who has not endorsed Brown, says the lieutenant governor has worked with O'Malley as a "true partner." He noted Brown's leadership in implementing the state's plan for complying with the federal Affordable Care Act and his military service.
