Behind the Scenes: ABC7/WTOP Traffic Center
No matter if you're riding the rails or behind the wheel, your best bet before leaving the house, is here - inside the ABC7/WTOP Traffic Center with Good Morning Washington's newest member, Amanda Meadows.
She's known online and on Twitter as the 'Gridlock Goddess' for a good reason.
“I'm a traffic geek,” said Meadows. “I definitely love the heat of the moment when there's a lot going on.”
Helping her report traffic in D.C. is a brand new computer system with real-time reports. Meadows says it uses cell phones to track how fast people are going, giving constant traffic updates.
Inside their hub, scanners, cameras and callers feed the beast and then get that information out to you as quickly as possible. After all, they know when it comes to commuting, every minute makes a difference.
"It really feels good that I'm helping people," said Meadows.
