Betty Turner charged with assaulting autistic child
CULPEPER, Va. (AP) - A former Culpeper County school employee charged with assaulting a 5-year-old autistic boy on a school bus is due in court for arraignment.
A hearing for 56-year-old Betty Turner is set for Wednesday morning in Culpeper Juvenile and Domestic Relations Court.
The former bus aide and 50-year-old former teacher's aide Linda Rastall were charged last month with assault and battery and contributing to the delinquency of a minor. Rastall's arraignment hasn't been scheduled.
Authorities say the child was crying because a toy had been taken away from him as he rode the bus home from school on Feb. 20. Rastall and Turner are accused of physically and verbally assaulting the boy in an attempt to control him.
