Calvert County Schools suspends 5-year-old 10 days for cap gun
A Calvert County family is appealing the punishment of a 5-year-old boy who the Washington Post says was suspended for 10 days after bringing a cap gun to school.
The Post says that the boys parents aren't necessarily upset that their son was punished for bringing the orange-tipped toy gun to school. However, the length of the suspension and the way school administrators handled him this past Wednesday.
The boy's mother told the Washington Post that school officials questioned him for two hours before they were even contacted, an episode during which the boy urinated on himself.
If the suspension holds up, the boy would be held out of classes for the rest of the school year.
