Kimberly Yvette Dinkins sentenced to 18 months
A 44-year-old Manassas woman was sentenced Friday to more than a year in prison for selling firearms without a license.
A federal judge in Alexandria sentenced Kimberly Yvette Dinkins to 18 months in prison and two years supervised released.
Authorities say Dinkins acted as a “straw buyer,” buying firearms and then selling them without a license. From Nov. 17, 2012 to Dec. 1, 2012, she purchased 31 handguns at gun shows in Virginia even though she was not a federally licensed gun dealer, the U.S. Attorneys office says. She then sold the weapons.
Some of the guns she sold ended up in the hands of juveniles and felons, authorities say.
