Laurie Millard charged with assaulting 6th grade students
LOCUST GROVE, Va. (AP) - A substitute teacher in Orange County faces charges of assaulting several students in a sixth-grade math class.
Police tell media outlets that 49-year-old Laurie Millard is charged with six counts each of assault and battery and contributing to the delinquency of a minor.
None of the students was seriously injured.
The Orange County Sheriff's Office didn't provide details of the alleged assaults or say what prompted the incident last week at Locust Grove Middle School.
Orange County Public Schools director of human resources S. Yvonne Dawson told The Daily Progress that state law prohibits school officials from discussing personnel matters in the media.
A telephone listing for Millard in the Locust Grove area could not be found. It's not clear whether she has a lawyer.
