D.C. and Montgomery County police are looking for two masked men robbing women walking alone at night. So far there have been five of these crimes.

Just before 2 a.m. Sunday, police say a woman sitting by herself at a Silver Spring parking garage was approached and robbed by three armed men in ski masks. Sources say they are looking at the possibility the woman might be one of several victims targeted by the same group of men in Montgomery County.

“I think it is terrible,” says Christy Sullivan.

“I think that is terrible. And they target women who are by themselves? That’s a weakness on their behalf,” says Regina Wells.

Sources in the District say just hours before the Silver Spring robbery, another woman was attacked on 8th St. NE. According to police, the masked gunmen pushed her against a fence, brandished a silver handgun and demanded everything.

ABC7 spoke with the woman's husband on the phone.

“Mentally she’s a little torn about it. Physically she’s fine, but mentally, it bothers her,” says

Two hours after the Silver Spring robbery, a 60-year-old woman walking by herself was attacked on Somerset Place in NW. The masked men pulled up in a car, pointed guns at her and stole her iPad, purse, cash and credit cards.

“It’s disturbing. Nobody expects that or deserves that or wants that. I would just hope that they increase the patrols from the police around here and tell everybody to keep their eyes open. I work here so it make me nervous and I’m not a woman alone,” says Randy Scope.

Police are warning women to be aware of their surroundings and to be alert. Anyone with information is asked to call police.
