Michael Brochu on trial, accused of sexual abuse
A man accused of sexually abusing several young boys at a local pool and at his home in Bowie is on trial this week.
Prince George’s County Police arrested Michael David Brochu in August 2012 on multiple charges, including third and fourth degree sex offense and second degree sex assault.
Police say Brochu, in his 60s, sexually abused an 11-year-old boy between June 27, 2011 and Aug. 19, 2011 at a local pool, the White Hall Pool and Tennis Club, in Bowie. He is also accused of sexually abusing a 6-year-old relative at a pool.
Twenty-eight criminal acts are connected to the pool, prosecutors said.
His is also accused of sexually abusing a 10-year-old family friend in his home for more than a year starting in April 2011 and an 8-year-old boy in his Bowie home in a separate incident.
The state's attorney for Prince George's County says Brochu's alleged perverted acts started at a home on Croydon Lane in Bowie, where the 8-year-old boy told police he'd been molested for almost a year. There were 30 separate acts, say prosecutors.
