The already strapped-for-cash Department of Defense may run out of cash to finance its health care program by the summer, Military Times report.

The cuts are all part of the heavy budget crunch the department is facing due to sequestration.

Health care officials say that service will continue to be provided to military members, their dependents and retirees, but Military Times reports that a priority for that care will be placed on military treatment facilities and not civilian health care.

Most of those cuts will impact Tricare contracts, officials say. Tricare is the health care program that serves a great many military members both in the United States and stationed worldwide.
