The first new entrance, which is planned to be unveiled next November, includes the installation of a new elevator that carry passengers from the station to the corner of South Hayes Street and 12th Street.

In addition, ARLNow says that Arlington County wants to reopen an abandoned tunnel that connects the station to the northeast corner of South Hayes and 12th.

Pentagon City is regularly one of WMATA's busiest stations. According to Greater Greater Washington, the Arlington station, which sits adjacent to the Fashion Centre at Pentagon City, was the 10th busiest station for passenger entries during the morning commute in 2012.

It was also the 4th busiest for evening system passenger exits during that time period. Greater Greater Washington also reports that Pentagon City is one of the 10 busiest stations during both middays and evenings.
