Two people were rescued after their canoe overturned and lodged against a rock in the Rappahannock River Saturday afternoon.
When Fredericksburg Fire and Stafford County Fire and Rescue Units arrived the man and young woman signaled that they were not injured but needed assistance.
Rescue swimmers from Falmouth reached the overturned canoe, determined that both of the victims were okay, and they brought them back to safety. The canoe was also recovered.
On shore, EMS personnel examined them more completely and confirmed they were in good condition. The two who were rescued turned down the opportunity to be taken for treatment.
