Tyrice Sutton charged with kidnapping, sexual abuse
A Landover man is facing charges of sexual abuse while armed after robbing a woman Wednesday in Northeast Washington, then forcing her into a car and fondling her.
In charging documents released Thursday, MPD officials charged Tyrice Sutton with kidnapping while armed and third-degree sexual abuse while armed in connection with the crimes, which happened just after 3 a.m. Wednesday.
It all began at a Subway restaurant in the 500 block of Morse Road NE. Police say that Sutton and another man burst into the sandwich shop, pulled a gun and ordered the victim and another person to the floor. They were both subsequently robbed of their cash, a watch and a set of car keys.
Police allege that Sutton then grabbed the female victim by the hair, dragged her into the street and demanded to know which car the keys he had just stolen went with. The victim told the suspect that the car was at her C Street Northeast home.
Shortly thereafter, police say the suspect forced the victim into a car and threatened to kill her if she didn't tell him where the car was. At that point, authorities say that Sutton reached his hand down the victim's shirt and "caressed her breast" for about 10 seconds. He also allegedly whispered to another man in the car that she "was coming with him."
When they arrived at the C Street home, police allege Sutton ordered the victim into the car he was attempting to steal, but she didn't get in. At that point, he sped away in the victim's vehicle.
MPD officers quickly intercepted Sutton in the stolen car, and a short time later, he crashed the vehicle near the intersection of Anacostia Avenue and Benning Road NE.
After he was taken into custody, Sutton allegedly told police, "you all did a good job. You see how fast I was driving? I live for this (expletive). I'll be back."
