U.S. economy grows 2.4 percent in first quarter of 2013
WASHINGTON (AP) - The U.S. economy grew 2.4 percent in January-March quarter, a figure helped by strong consumer spending.
At the same time, weekly jobless aid applications nationwide rose to 354,000, a level consistent with modest job gains.
