Aaron Hernandez case: Investigation launched into role in 2012 murders
Former New England Patriots tight end Aaron Hernandez may have been connected to a double murder that took place on Boston's South End last year, the Boston Globe reports.
An investigation into Hernandez's possible role in the shooting deaths of Daniel Abreu and Safiro Furtado, who were gunned down after a fight at a Boston nightclub, has been launched, the Globe's Maria Cramer says.
The revelations come a day after Hernandez was arrested at his North Attleboro, Mass. home and charged with the murder of Odin Lloyd, a 27-year-old semi-pro football player. Lloyd's body was found about a mile from Hernandez's home last Monday.
Abreu and Furtado were involved in fight with Hernandez and several other people on the night they were murdered, investigators tell the Globe. They were then shot as they sat in a car on Shawmut Street a short time later.
Those murders have not yet been solved.
