Alexandria man struck by police cruiser
An Alexandria man was taken to the hospital after he was struck by a police cruiser Tuesday.
Police say the 60 year old was crossing the southbound lanes of Richmond Highway when the cruiser struck him around 2 p.m. He was not using the crosswalk.
The man was taken to Inova Fairfax Hospital with non life-threatening injuries. The officer was not hurt.
The crash closed two southbound lanes of the highway at Mount Vernon Memorial Highway for a short time.
