AT&T National missing Tiger Woods, Justin Rose

There is Ogilve, Howell the third, Lebron - not James. But the player that draws big crowds won't be on the Congressional golf course to play this week's AT&T Tournament.

There will be no Tiger Woods, no U.S. Open Champion Justin Rose and very little big name golf star power at the tournament Tiger hosts. Woods and Rose are both out with injuries.

On Tuesday, the golfers get a chance to get a feel for the course and fans get a chance to rub elbows with them.

The crowd of spectators was small. Bethesda residents like Neal Gillen every year rents out his property a mile from Congressional Country Club to spectators coming to the tournament to park.

But no Tiger and this year looks bleak. In years past, neighbors made tens of thousands of dollars offering parking for hundreds coming to the tournament.

On Tuesday, Gillen was only able to park one car.

Just down River Road, Steve Massey is opening up his Potomac Produce Market for the summer season. He's not expecting big crowds from the tournament to come visit him.

“One car, three cars every 30 seconds it doesn't help,” he says.

But still the faithful are here and will be to enjoy a week of big time golf.

“Diehard golf fans, a good course and good event is certainly enough to be here,” says fan Adella Lerner.
