Booker running for Senate
The Washington Post is reporting that Newark Mayor Cory Booker has officially announced his plans to run for Frank Lautenberg's open Senate seat.
Booker, 44, made his announcement at a news conference in Newark, and is being endorsed by former Jersey Senator Bill Bradley, the Post reports.
The son of civil rights activists, a graduate of Stanford, and a Rhodes Scholar with a law degree from Yale, the Democratic candidate only has one opponent thus far: Republican Steve Lonegan, former mayor of Bogota, NJ.
