D.C. sales tax reduced to 5.75 percent
Good news district residents: your wallets may get a little relief.
A D.C. Council decision on Wednesday will reduce the D.C. sales tax from six percent to 5.75 percent. The decision comes after the district’s chief financial officer estimated a projected $86 million increase in revenue in 2013 and a $92 million increase in 2014, in comparison to previous estimations, The Washington Business Journal reported.
The drop in D.C. sales tax comes after it was increased in 2009.
