Kami Ring, Maryland girl found dead in field
Authorities in Cecil County are trying to determine how a 10-year-old girl, who was found Monday in a field near her grandparents' home in Port Deposit, died.
Maryland State Police say that Kami Ring was reported missing from the 100 block of Waibel Road at about 11 a.m. Monday. One of the residents of the home had called 911 to report that that Kami had disappeared after they assumed she went to bed Sunday night.
A nearly six-hour long search led to the recovery of her body next to a nearby shed. The girl was pronounced dead at the scene, but officials do not know how she passed away.
Officials would not say specifically that there was anything suspicious about Kami's death, but they do say that they have several leads and "persons of interest" that they are pursuing. Her body was taken to a medical examiner's office for an autopsy.
