Paul Mannina killed himself with razor blade, sources tell Post
Paul Mannina, the Department of Labor attorney accused of sexually assaulting and attacking a colleague in her Northwest D.C. home, killed himself inside a D.C. jail cell by cutting himself with a razor, the Washington Post says.
Two law enforcement sources told the Post that Mannina slashed himself in the neck with a likely jail-issued razor blade in the early morning hours of June 18. He had appeared in court a day earlier in connection to the June 5 brutal attack on a 60-year-old woman.
Mannina was arrested June 10 in connection with the attack. Prosecutors alleged that Mannina knocked on the door of his Department of Labor colleague, then punched her in the face when she answered. He then allegedly handcuffed, beat and shocked her with a stun gun before sexually assaulting her.
The Post says that the District's medical examiner had not yet rendered an official cause of death by Wednesday. He had been charged with first degree sexual assault while armed.
He was taken into custody at a Montgomery County hospital, where officials say he checked himself in due to mental problems, his attorneys said in court.
