Proton beam therapy approved at MedStar Georgetown, Sibley
A controversial cancer treatment will now be offered at two D.C. hospitals.
The Washington Post reports that District health officials on Friday approved proton beam therapy programs at MedStar Georgetown University Hospital and Sibley Memorial Hospital.
The radiation therapy is praised by supporters for being more precise in targeting tumors, especially brain and eye tumors in children, the Post reports.
