Search for missing Potomac River swimmer continues
The search for a 19-year-old man who went missing while swimming in the Potomac River in Montgomery County continues Tuesday morning.
The unidentified man went swimming Monday near Purple Horse Beach, which is located near the Billy Goat Trail inside the Chesapeake & Ohio Canal Historic National Park.
He reportedly went swimming with three other people in the Potomac, but did not surface when the other people went back to shore. An extensive search including authorities in the water, air and on the shore did not turn up any sign of him.
Swimming in the Potomac is illegal at all times.
