Sequestration furlough appeals could come en masse

The federal agency that deals with appeals of federal furloughs is prepping itself for what may become a huge wave of complaints, Government Executive reports.

GovExec reports that the Merit Systems Protection Board, which is tasked with hearing appeals of what they call "adverse personnel actions," including furloughs, is taking a measured approach to what could become a massive amount of appeals.

The board has already received 140 appeals, mostly from FAA workers.

Multiple federal agencies, including the FAA, IRS and officials at Walter Reed National Military Medical Center, have either already furloughed workers or are planning to do so.
