Tabbasum Gilani charged with forcing woman to commit sexual act
A Kmart security officer was arrested Saturday after police say he forced a suspected shoplifter to perform a sexual act on him.
“That’s horrible,” says Nakesha Brunson. “You just made me scared to shop around here.”
Police say that Tabbasum Gilani, a 29-year-old Lorton resident, was working at the Kmart store at 6364 Springfield Plaza when he detained a 23-year-old woman. She was later charged with misdemeanor shoplifting.
The woman alleges that Gilani forced her into performing a sexual act on him while she was detained. She was later taken to a nearby hospital for treatment of undisclosed injuries.
“That is awful… too many things around here have been happening,” says Anne Clair Fregnan. “Safety needs to get a little bit better in the Springfield area, I think.”
Gilani has been charged with abduction with intent to defile and forcible sodomy. A man at his home Monday had no comment.
