William Faison pleads guilty to killing Jeffrey Covington
A Washington man pleaded guilty to killing a teen in early July 2011.
Prosecutors say William Faison, 23, shot and killed Jeffrey Covington, 19, during an attempted armed robbery in Southeast Washington.
Covington and his father, Jeffrey Blount, were playing craps in the 600 block of 46th Place SE. Police say just after 1 a.m., Faison, who was nearby, pointed a gun at Blount and tried to rob him. When Covington tried helping his father, Faison fatally shot him in the upper chest.
Blount pleaded guilty to tampering with evidence Wednesday. Police say after the shooting, he returned to the scene and took cash from his son’s pockets. He then tossed Covington’s empty pistol in a garbage can.
Both Blount and Faison will be sentenced in August.
