Kyle Aldridge killed during Annapolis 4th of July parade
Updated: July 5, 2013 - 05:29 pm
A 7-year-old Baltimore boy was killed Thursday during preparations for a 4th of July parade in Annapolis, authorities say.
Annapolis Police officials say that Kyle Aldridge was hit by a trailer being pulled by a van while getting in line for the annual parade, which took place on Amos Garrett Boulevard near West Street in downtown Annapolis.
Kyle was riding on the trailer which was being driven by his grandfather, 43-year-old Jason Hicks of Glen Burnie, when he tried to get off while the van and trailer were still moving. Police say the boy fell and was hit by a trailer tire.
The boy was taken to a nearby hospital, where he later died.
Annapolis Police Cpl. Amy Miguez says that the trailer the boy was riding on was one of the last floats in the parade when he was killed.
