Bear cub struck by vehicle and put down near Germantown road
BALTIMORE (AP) - Authorities say a juvenile black bear was struck by a car after wandering onto southbound Interstate 270 in Germantown.
Montgomery County police say the bear was euthanized by officers because of the severity of its injuries.
Police got a report about the bear around 9 a.m. and found it in a wooded area near the highway.
Police say the bear was estimated to weigh about 150 pounds. The remains were being turned over to the Maryland Department of Natural Resources.
