The Caribbean Carnival Parade owes D.C. a lot of money, and that means those colorful costumes won’t be seen or considered back on Washington streets until the debt is paid up.

According to the Washington City Paper, organizers owe D.C. more than $200,000. The debt is mainly for services by the Metropolitan Police Department in 2010 and 2011.

The 2013 version of the Caribbean Carnival Parade and Festival took place in Baltimore last weekend. It was held in D.C. from 1993 – 2011. In 2011, a man was shot and killed near the parade route.
