Dalima Palmer charged after Ocean City scuffle
A Dumfries woman who received an emergency C-section after a recent scuffle with police on an Ocean City beach has been charged with assault.
Police say Dalima Palmer, 24, was part of a disorderly group on the beach Sunday afternoon. When a lifeguard asked them to tone it down, one of the men in the group started making threats.
Palmer was captured on cell phone video being tackled and held face-down in the sand as officers tried to handcuff her.
While in custody, Palmer began having labor pains and was taken to Peninsula Regional Medical Center for an emergency C-section.
"We have full confidence at this point that our officers acted appropriately," says Lindsay O'Neil with the Ocean City Police. "Every witness statement received did corroborate with what police officers said."
But Palmer's family disagrees, telling ABC7 that the group was not disorderly and was profiled by the lifeguard.
Palmer's charges also include disorderly conduct and obstructing and hindering a law enforcement officer.
Three others, Abdul Kargbo, 25, Musa Seisay, 24, Saidu Kargbo, 21, are also facing charges in connection with the incident.
