Eric Toth plea discussions underway
WASHINGTON (AP) - Lawyers remain in plea discussions in the child pornography case of a former private school teacher added to the FBI's list of most wanted fugitives during his five years on the run.
A public defender for Eric Justin Toth said in court Wednesday that she and prosecutors were working to resolve the case, which involves multiple jurisdictions. He's due back in court in September.
Toth was captured in Nicaragua in April and returned to Washington to face federal charges. He had been on the run since 2008, when he was fired from his teaching job after being confronted about images of child pornography taken with a school camera in his possession.
Toth taught third grade at Beauvoir, on the grounds of the Washington National Cathedral.
