Are you a federal worker that wants to appeal a furlough? Get in line.

The head of the Merit Systems Protection Board, the agency that manages appeals for government employees, says that at least 2,100 appeals from furloughed workers have already been received. Another 1,000 still haven't been put into the pipeline to be heard.

"We literally, on a daily basis, have hundreds and hundreds of furlough cases filed, with people dropping off stacks of paper in each office or using our electronic filing system," MPSB Chairperson Susan Grundmann told Federal News Radio.

By comparison, the agency usually handles no more than 7,000 appeals per year across a wide spectrum of issues.
