A Frederick man has been arrested for allegedly killing his neighbor, several months after she was found strangled to death in her apartment.

A relative found Gloria Fitzpatrick's body in her Rooks Court apartment on April 22 after the beloved grandmother did not show up for work.

After a four-month investigation into her death, police arrested Antwine Dwayne Snowden, 51.

Police say Snowden lived below Fitzpatrick at Rooks Court and would often visit her apartment.

Police began to suspect Snowden after he lied about his whereabouts the evening of the murder. DNA evidence would eventually lead to his arrest.

Snowden initially ran from police and hid in a nearby apartment complex when they spotted him Tuesday off Carroll Parkway in Frederick, police tell The Frederick News-Post. He was taken into custody after a brief standoff.

Snowden is being held at the Frederick County Adult Detention Center without bond on charges of first and second-degree murder.
