Isabella Majano killed in Prince William County police cruiser crash
A woman who was allegedly drunk and walking in the middle of the road in Woodbridge was hit and killed by an on-duty Prince William County Police cruiser early Saturday morning.
Police say the officer was responding to a report of an intoxicated woman walking in traffic at Jefferson Davis Highway and Cardinal Drive at about 4:30 a.m. Saturday.
The officer was driving in a marked police cruiser northbound on Jefferson Davis Highway when he came upon the woman, who was in his lane. Police say he struck the woman, who was identified as 25-year-old Isabella Majano of Woodbridge.
Police say a truck in the right lane next to the officer contributed to the officer not being able to miss hitting Majano.
Police say Majano was under the influence of alcohol and wasn’t in a crosswalk. Police also say speed wasn’t a factor in the crash.
