The Loudoun County Sheriff's Office is advising residents of a possible phone scam where the caller claims to be collecting donations for a law enforcement youth fund.

A Loudoun resident recently got an unsolicited call where the person on the other end of the line claimed they were collecting donations for the local Sheriff's Office for a troubled youth program. The resident recognized the call as a possible scam and did not send any money to the caller. The phone number used was determined to be a voice over IP number and likely originated overseas.

"The Loudoun County Sheriff's Office does not solicit money from residents or conduct fundraisers over the phone," said Sheriff Mike Chapman.
