According to the latest Quinnipiac poll released today regarding Virginia’s race for governor, women favor Democratic candidate Terry McAuliffe while men prefer Republican candidate and attorney general Ken Cuccinelli.

Overall, McAuliffe has a 43-39 percent advantage.

Even so, most pundits predict the race won’t really get started until the first debate, which happens to be Saturday at The Homestead resort in Hot Springs.

McAuliffe leads 48-32 among the women polled while Cuccinelli leads 46-38 among men.

As for the controversy surrounding Va. Gov. Robert McDonnell (R), 70 percent of those polled say – at least for now – it will not affect their vote.
