MPD's All Hands On Deck violates city contract, judge rules
A D.C. Superior Court judge on Friday upheld a ruling that the D.C. police’s “All Hands On Deck” initiative violates the city’s contract with MPD rank-and-file officers.
All Hands on Deck, which puts every available officer on the streets and requires officers to work three-day weekends, is now ordered to end, the judge affirmed, according to Scott McCabe’s D.C. Crime Stories.
MPD continues the All hands on Deck police several times a year.
D.C. police argued that the initial ruling by the Public Employees Relations Board wasn’t valid because it abused its discretion, McCabe reports.
However, the judge ruled that police didn’t provide precedent.
