A three-year-old Accokeek boy who got tangled in window blind cords was saved Thursday evening by a Prince George's County Police officer.

When the boy's family called 911, Officer Ariel Acosta, who had been on a traffic stop, heard the call dispatched at approximately 5:00 pm. When Acosta arrived at the home, the boy was not breathing and had turned blue, police say.

Acosta performed CPR and resuscitated the boy before fire department personnel arrived at the home in the 15000 block of Livingston Road. The boy was taken to a hospital. Police say he was alert and talking and will be admitted for observation.

Officer Acosta is a five-year veteran of the Prince George's County Police Department.
