Sam Anas plays with the Capitals
Sam Anas is one of many hockey hopefuls living out his dream.
He grew up nearby in Potomac and played hockey for the Little Capitals as a teenager and was a standout at the Landon school.
The Capitals invited Anas to participate in their annual summer developmental camp. Sam was surprised to say the least.
Sam's father Peter is able to make the easy commute to Arlington to watch his son play. In fact, a bunch of family and friends plan to make the trip.
Anas is skating the same path as another local product. Jeff Halpern also grew up in Potomac, played for the Little Capitals and eventually became a Washington Capital.
The 20-year-old Anas will play college hockey at Quinnipiac University next fall. He's already made SportsCenter's top ten list when he scored a between-the-legs goal in a minor league hockey game last winter.
As for one day being a big cap? Anas knows he's got a lot long way to go.
