SoberRide offered in D.C. on 4th of July
If your 4th of July plans involve some adult beverages, please make sure to give someone else the keys. If you need a ride home, the Washington Regional Alcohol Program is once again offering you a free cab.
The SoberRide initiative is back in business Thursday, providing a free ride home for fares up to $30 throughout the D.C. Area. It'll be available between 10 p.m. and 4 a.m.
Anyone 21 and older who needs a ride can call 1-800-200-8294. Rides can't be arranged in advance.
Cab companies from across the region participate in SoberRide on various holiday throughout the year. Since it was established in 1993, the WRAP has provided nearly 58,000 free rides home.
Riders who rack up a fare of more than $30 will be responsible for paying their driver the overage.
