Stranger grabs child in Chantilly
A child narrowly escaped the clutches of a stranger while walking home in Chantily.
The child, 11, returned home without injuries after being grabbed by a man wearing a dark hoodie and jeans in the 43000 block of Mink Meadows Street at about 7:45 p.m.
In the quiet neighborhood, with children everywhere, this event not only strikes fear but also disbelief.
Kathleen Stuart and her daughter Kylie were alarmed Tuesday night to see sheriff's deputies and K-9 units all over the area looking for the man suspected of assaulting the victim along the path right across the street from their house.
Police say the suspect said something to the effect of, "what's a pretty girl like you doing out here."
She tried to get around him, but he wrapped his arms around her from behind.
She managed to kick herself loose and flee.
"I think she's a very smart young lady,” police said of the victim. “She kept her wits about her."
The girl describes the suspect as a Hispanic, between 5’ 11” to 6 ‘, with dark, messy hair, wearing a dark hoodie, torn jeans and black sneakers with white shoelaces.
