Virginia ABC changes undercover operation policy, Post reports
Virginia alcohol officials are modifying their undercover operations to catch underage drinkers, the Washington Post reports. At least one uniformed officer must now accompany disguised officers when an operation occurs.
This change is a result of an incident in April when a 20-year-old University of Virginia student named Elizabeth Daly was arrested for attempting to escape undercover officers who thought she was buying beer.
Daly was actually buying bottled water, and the misunderstanding prompted a public outcry and led to a review of the incident.
