'Black budget' details CIA, NSA actions, Washington Post reports

A top secret $52.6 billion “black budget” obtained by the Washington Post shows the CIA and NSA have put into place “aggressive” efforts to hack into foreign computer systems.

The budget opens a window into how the U.S.’ intelligence agencies set priorities and are organized. Combatting terrorism remains the top priority, but stopping nuclear proliferation and defending against spying are also tops on the list.

The Post obtained the document from Edward Snowden, the ex-intelligence contractor who exposed the NSA’s massive data collecting programs.

Among the many findings in the Post’s story is that the NSA was going to look into thousands of possible instances where sensitive information was compromised by “one of its own,” the Post reports.
