(ABC) - Ready to head to the venue in Kent, Wash. for her big day, 23-year-old Amanda was packing up the car when the unthinkable happened.

911 dispatcher Candice, left, gave Amanda, right, her wedding dress.

Her truck was stolen. Even worse, her $6,000 wedding dress was stolen right outside her apartment.

But then, the 911 dispatcher asked her a seemingly odd question: What size was your dress?

Candice, the 911 dispatcher named felt so bad for her caller, she asked her supervisor if she could offer to lend Amanda her own wedding dress.

“It was just an immediate reaction,” Candice says. “I’ve been a bride so I can just put myself in her place about how horrified she would be that's kind of the biggest part of the wedding.”

Candice texted a photo of herself in her wedding dress to the officer on the scene so he could show it to the bride-to-be.

“Even seeing the pictures I could tell it would fit me,” Amanda says.

Amanda took Candice up on her generous offer and looked dazzling in the dress.
