ASHBURN, Va. (AP) - The Washington Redskins have released Donte Stallworth.

The veteran receiver was among several cuts by the team Monday.

Stallworth was hindered through most of training camp by a hamstring injury. He caught two passes for 33 yards in preseason games.

The team signed him in June, three months after he was seriously burned in a hot air balloon accident in Florida. He faced a tough challenge making a roster that already includes Pierre Garcon, Joshua Morgan, Santana Moss and Leonard Hankerson.

Stallworth has played in 10 NFL seasons. He appeared in only one game last year with the New England Patriots before an ankle injury ended his season.

He was one of several players to be cut by the Redskins as they try to get down to the league-mandated 53-man roster. In addition to Stallworth, the team cut Eric Kettani, a fullback and a Navy veteran.

In June, Kettani and the Redskins celebrated his promotion to the rank of lieutenant.

The Redskins also cut linebacker Quan Sturdivant, according to Mike Jones of the Washington Post, whom the team signed just last week.
