Facebook (FB) proposes changes to photo use permissions
Facebook is proposing several changes to the way it uses the personal data and photos you post to the social network, most notably to the way it operates its photo tagging system.
According to AllThingsD, Facebook would like to begin using user's main profile photo as a "key indicator" for its facial-recognition software, which it uses to suggest that friends tag you in photos that they post.
Facebook's Chief Privacy Officer, Erin Egan, told AllThingsD that the move would be a positive for Facebook users; she says that by being tagged in more photos, users will be better able to monitor the photos of them that exist.
Privacy advocates will likely cry foul, though, pointing out that it's likely another way for Facebook to keep a closer eye on your user habits.
