Federal worker pay increase proposal due by Aug. 31
President Barack Obama has about 10 days to send a proposed pay increase for federal workers to Congress, but workers may get a larger pay bump if he fails to do so.
Government Executive reports that all signs point to President Obama proposing an across-the-board 1 percent pay increase for Fiscal Year 2014.
However, if he doesn't act, a mandatory increase written into a 1990 law may actually benefit workers. The formula used by the Federal Employees Pay Comparability Act would conclude on a 1.3 percent pay increase.
